HOW SPRAY TANNING WORKS

Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is the active ingredient in just about every spray tanning product.  What makes each product different is the amount of DHA used and the other “items” that are added to the solution. DHA is a colorless sugar that interacts with the outer layer of skin, the epidermis, causing a color change.

Your skin continuously exfoliates every day.  In fact, every 35 to 45 days, you have an entirely new epidermis.  That is why all sunless tanners will eventually fade.   But since the skin will always exfoliate, you will have to continue spray tanning about once a week.

At Maui Elegant Tan we use the highest quality tanning formulas that may take 90 minutes or 8 hours to develop.  Ask Wendy, Certified Tanning Consultant, about the many options you have tanning at her Lahaina Studio or Mobile Tanning Services.

It is important to remember that sunless tanners do not provide protection from UVA and UVB rays.  Your gorgeous  Maui Million Dollar Tan may make you have a false sense of safety.  Make sure you apply sunscreen if you are going out into the sun.
